Minister opens day 2 of Climate Finance Week 2023

Welcome to Sustainable Finance Week Ireland 2024!

The International Sustainable Finance Centre of Excellence is delighted to welcome you to Ireland’s Sustainable Finance Week Ireland 2024 (#SFWI2024), formerly known as Climate Finance Week Ireland, the premier event dedicated to advancing sustainable finance and tackling the pressing challenges of climate change.

Despite ongoing global challenges, including heightened security concerns, climate emergencies, and humanitarian crises, we remain unwavering in our mission to drive the sustainable finance agenda forward. SFWI 2024 will showcase significant progress in mobilising finance through the European Green Deal and other key sustainable finance initiatives. This year, we will also give special attention to biodiversity as an emerging and critical component of the sustainability landscape.

Talent Development at the Heart of Sustainability

Talent development continues to be at the heart of Ireland’s sustainable finance strategy. In collaboration with industry partners, the Sustainable Finance Skillnet, supported by Skillnet Ireland, offers world-class training programmes. These courses, which will be highlighted during SFWI 2024, are designed to bridge the skills gap between the financial sector’s needs, the EU’s regulatory standards, and the international goals for sustainable development.

We are thrilled to once again feature a distinguished lineup of speakers for Sustainable Finance Week Ireland 2024, building on our tradition of hosting renowned figures. This year’s programme also includes a variety of practical workshops and events to equip finance practitioners with the latest insights and skills in sustainable finance practices.

Our event continues to grow exponentially. Since its inception in 2018, attendance has soared, reaching over XX participants last year. We look forward to your participation this year as we collectively shape the future of sustainable finance.

IIreland’s Sustainable Finance Strategy

In April 2019, the Irish Government introduced the “Ireland for Finance” strategy, a comprehensive plan aimed at advancing the growth of Ireland’s international financial services sector by 2025. This initiative envisions positioning Ireland as a leading centre for specialised international financial services, with a key emphasis on regional development, sustainable finance, and promoting diversity within the sector.
